It was a blast to perform with Chip McNeill and MAYJO at the Jazz Education Network Conference in Dallas this January! Chip is a Grammy award-winning saxophonist and arranger for Maynard Ferguson and Arturo Sandoval.

Huge thanks to Dr. Pete Madsen for inviting me to write an article for October’s issue of the semi-annual Nebraska Music Educators Association Magazine. The article is entitled: Directing the Jazz Ensemble: Helpful Tips. 

Dr. Nichols recently wrote a scholarly journal article that was approved for publication by Indiana University Press. It will be published in the Jazz Education in Research and Practice Journal in January of 2022. The article covers contemporary compositional techniques employed by Jerry Bergonzi. 

Looking forward to performing the Jacques Ibert’s Concertino Da Camera at the 2021 N.A.S.A. conference this year. I will also be performing a jazz set with Darren Pettit, Mitch Towne, and David Hawkins. I will also be giving a scholarly lecture at this conference.

Excited to be the new full-time saxophone instructor at the University of Nebraska at Omaha starting Fall 2020. Looking forward to running the saxophone studio (classical and jazz), directing saxophone quartets (classical and jazz), running a jazz combo, and teaching courses on woodwind methods, improvisation, and commercial music theory!

The Crossover Saxophone Quartet will be performing some of my original arrangements at the North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference in Tempe, AZ this March! I’m excited to be performing alongside such talented musicians!
